About the Event
Walk from Champagne Mouton Friday 9th July 2021.Meet 10.15 at the St. Coutant Cemetery for a 10.30 departure.The cemetery is located on the D740 between St Coutant and Champagne Mouton.The walk consists of road, track and some uneven paths through wooded areas.We stop en-route at the farmhouse where Hassler and Sparks were hiding from the German occupational army after escaping from their raid on ships at Bordeaux during Operation Frankton, more commonly known as “The Cockleshell Heroes.”The walk will be mainly in the area known as Zone Libre, the demarcation line being close by that passes through Pleuville, St.Coutant and Parzac.Once again dogs are most welcome, but have to remain on the lead and Covid restrictions apply.
Leisurely pace will take about 1.5 hrs approx 7km
